TokyoDex:

Motion Graphics, Video Editing

Tokyodex is a company based in Tokyo, Japan whose primary focus is to connect local artists and grant them platforms to share and profit from their art. In 2018, I had the opportunity to serve as a Design Intern at Tokyodex in Japan. During my time at Tokyodex, my responsibilities included video editing, photo editing, and, after demonstrating my capabilities, I was tasked with animating their newly developed logo. For this project, I worked in Adobe AfterEffects and Premier to create a motion graphics animation that effectively represents Tokyodex’s creativity--found both in their company’s mission statement and in their work. Additionally, I set up the animation in Premier to facilitate their ability to use the same motion for different and new applications in the future.

Original Logo Animation - This is the initial animation I created to add motion to the company’s new logo. I used a combination of Adobe AfterEffects and Adobe Premier to create this entire effect. The free flowing motion and color changes in the beginning show how dynamic and unique the company can be. When creating their new brand identity, Tokyodex created several versions and orientations of the shape objects in their logo and decided that they would use each of the versions at different times. So the moving objects once they have settled near each-other represents the evolving and changing logo of Tokyodex. On top of all of that, at the end the shapes provide individual windows into many of the creative things Tokyodex has already done.

Mitsubishi UFJ Capital Office Art Project - This is an example of when the animation file I had given Tokyodex was used in context within a video using just the background of the video.

2019 TokyoDex Project Reel - This is another application of the file I had given, but used in a slightly different manner, still using the background of the video primarily.

Fuji Business Co., Ltd Office Art Project with Frankie Chi and Misa Funai - In this example, Tokyodex has used the various file versions of the animation I had given in order to use it with the context of this very specific edit, only using the black over the video.
